Free Microsoft software on a subscription Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA)

Free of charge software from Microsoft is available through Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA)

National Metallurgical Academy became the member of Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA) – is a licensing program which allows academic institutions to offer students and faculty access to a wide array of Microsoft software.

Microsoft software can be installed in labs, classrooms, and on student PCs for instructional and research purposes.

Among the products are

-Windows 7 Professional
-Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
-Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, and Web

ELMS is a Web-based distribution and management application of MSDN AA software

How to use ELMS web-page:

1. Got to http://msdn62.e-academy.com/nmau_mmb

You will be redirected to ELMS web-page

2. Log in and press "Software", choose the desired software and press "Go". You can also use Search option (in head edge)

3. On product information page press "Add to Cart"

4. Read the license agreement and press "I Agree"

5. You can add other products on a checkout page, in order to do this press "Continue Shopping" then "Check Out".

6. Check your personal data and enter e-mail. Press "Next"

7. Press "Download" button of the chosen product

8. Some products require product key, which you can find on the page. Write it down and use during installation, press "Download".

9. You will download a File Transfer Manager tool (0.5 Mb), save it on your hard drive and run.

10. Select a folder, where you will store the tool and press "Continue".

11. In the event that your connection to the server is reset, the progress you made on the download will not be lost.

Depending on the product you may either run it or have an ISO file to deal with. Further installation depends on the product requirements.

Academic institutions teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are eligible to be the member of MSDN AA under the Memorandum of understanding between Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and company "Microsoft Ukraine" from 10 April 2009

MSDN AA – is a program of cooperation in the field of education, helping to have and use the latest set of Microsoft platforms, servers, and developer tools in labs, classrooms, and on student PCs. The program is designed to address the needs of academic departments teaching engineering and natural sciences and is designed only to instructional and research purposes.

Use conditions of software gained from MSDNN AA

The software can be installed in labs, classrooms or on any lab machines of the department or other faculty subdivision of the program member.

Use any other Microsoft licensing program for informational support (LAN, mail server etc.), administrative support (account section, educational unit or other units) or administrative academic departments.

Teachers and students can install the software from Microsoft licensing program on their PC.

Company "Microsoft Ukraine" signed the memorandum with Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to provide free access to «MSDN Academic Alliance» licensed software subscription for academic institutions teaching Processing Technology and Natural Science.

«MSDN Academic Alliance» program provides latest Microsoft software to teachers and students of institution-members. About 200 academic institutions of Ukraine are the members of the program.
