Shifrin Mikhail Yuliyevich (1909 - 2001) was born in the city of Elisavetgrad (now Kropivnitsky); After five years his family moved to. Yekaterinoslav, where he graduated from secondary education in 1925.
During 1925 - 1931 gg. Shifrin M.Yu. studied at a vocational school, was a worker in a leather factory, a shaft-keeper on one of the Donbas mines, a worker at a metallurgical plant for them. Petrovsky, draftsman at the institute "Giproshakht".
In 1982 he was awarded the title of laureate of the State Prize of the USSR in 1982 in the field of science and technology for the creation and introduction of progressive technology and high-efficiency equipment for the continuous production of self-propelled railway wheels.
M.Yu. Shifrin is a well-known specialist in the field of wheel rolling, the author of three fundamental monographs in the field of the theory and practice of the production of single-wheel wheels, which have become desk books for many generations of wheel propellers both in Ukraine and in the GDR, China, and Czechoslovakia, Russia.
