Easter Light for Unbreakable Hearts: An Initiative of Gratitude and Unity
Easter is a celebration of life’s victory over death, light over darkness, and the profound hope that unites millions of people. This year, for every Ukrainian, this holiday carries a special, poignant significance. It is a time when we keenly feel the value of our peaceful dawn and the importance of supporting those who have become a living shield in defense of our statehood.
The faculty of the Department of International Economics, Management, and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, with particular trepidation and a sense of responsibility, supported the initiative of the rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology (UDST), to collect “Easter baskets of sweets” for severely wounded soldiers undergoing treatment at the I.I. Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital.
The Mechnikov Hospital has long been a symbol of resilience and professional excellence for Dnipro and all of Ukraine. Here, within these walls, where a daily battle is fought for every life, our defenders are on the hardest journey of all—the journey of recovery. That is why our desire to send them holiday treats is not just charity, but a profound expression of respect, love, and boundless gratitude.
Every package assembled by our department is filled not only with sweets but also with a piece of the warmth from our hearts. We understand that amid prolonged rehabilitation and the daily routine of the hospital, a festive atmosphere has healing power. Traditional Easter bread, fragrant sweets, and symbolic Easter gifts can momentarily restore a sense of home, reminding the soldiers that they are remembered and admired, and that the entire university family is waiting for their recovery.
Participation in such initiatives is an important part of our corporate and civic culture. At UDUNT, the education of students and academic activities always go hand in hand with patriotic service. The example set by our rector, Kostyantyn Sukhyi, has inspired us to act in a coordinated and prompt manner, because kindness knows no days off, and supporting the army is our shared duty.
We are convinced that these sweet gifts will help bring a festive mood to our heroes, strengthen their spirit, and give them faith that victory—both personal and national—will surely be ours. May the aroma of Easter baked goods and the heartfelt wishes accompanying this basket serve as a symbol to our defenders that all of Ukraine bows before their heroic deeds.
Today, more than ever, we feel the power of unity. Together, we are not just collecting aid—we are building a bridge of gratitude between the home front and the front lines, between university lecture halls and hospital wards. Easter is a celebration of rebirth, and may it bring a speedy recovery to every wounded soldier.
With gratitude in our hearts and faith in Victory!
