Bythe 90-thanniversary of department foundry NMetAU

The department foundry was founded in 1930 by merging structural units of account Dnepropetrovsk of the evening metallurgical Institute, Don Polytechnic Institute and metallurgical faculty of Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute. The task of training foundry man for domestic machine-building and metallurgical production was entrusted at formed department.

Formation and development department were in periods of pre-war industrialization, World War II and post-war modernization of the industry. The research group rolls under the leadership of A. Krivosheev was created more in 1932. Technological bases of melting iron in a cupola, and fiery hearth furnaces in the period from 1932 to 1941 of the foundry department developed. During the war, members of the department took part in the organization and development of the production of cast iron and steel rolls in the rear. The domestic school of foundryman consisted in the course of this work. Especially it successfully launched its work in plants of foundry rolls in Dnepropetrovsk, Lutuhino and Kushva, which are the only suppliers of rolls and shafts for modern rolling-mills all CIS states, as well as for production of paper, rubber products, flour, paint and so on.

The highly skilled engineers, managers, industry organizers, prominent scientists and public figures at all stages of formation and development department, its scientific school of audiences NMetAU to gat out. The department foundry importance placed on respect for the traditions and  honor the memory of outstanding teachers and scholars who have made a significant contribution to the chair, and the development of domestic foundry.

Teachers and researchers of the department published in books, conference proceedings, scientific and technical journals, reference books, encyclopedias over 3000 articles. In recent years, published over 220 teaching aids and lecture summaries of the main disciplines of the specialist. The staff department awarded the high title of winners of state awards for a great contribution to the development and creation of new technologies and textbooks.

The foundry department headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V. Hrychykov trains bachelors and Master on specialization  "Foundry ferrous and nonferrous metals" and "Casting (by type)". Teachers at the department are 5 professors, 7 associate professors and three assistants. The professors V. Hrychykov, O. Sotsenko, V. Kalinin are academician of Higher School of Ukraine. No university of Ukraine and Russia does not have such a number of highly qualified specialists. Today the department foundry NMetAU is one of the recognized leaders of Ukraine foundry.
