Licensed reception of the students on their first year - a group of up to 25 people also, there is an extramural courses for industry workers. On the 3 year of both forms of of training accepted graduates of technical schools. In addition, the department is preparing highly qualified personnel (doctors and candidates of sciences).

 

Training of personnel specialty non-ferrous metallurgy had been carried occasionally since 1936. before the Great Patriotic War. The recruitment of students was resumed in 1993 from the department electrometallurgy steel and ferroalloys. Department of non-ferrous metallurgy was established as independent division in 1999. At the moment the department is preparing a bachelor's degree in "Metallurgy" major "Non-ferrous metallurgy", as well as experts and masters in the major, "Metallurgy of secondary non-ferrous metals", "Light non-ferrous metals" and "Metallurgy of rare non-ferrous metals". The preparation of bachelors has been started in a single specialty "Management and technology of non-ferrous metals" since this year. After graduating from the Bachelor may continue their studies at qualified levels starting "expert" (for 2010-2011 academic year) "Master".

 

Students postgraduate and doctoral studies in specialty 05.16.02 "Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and special alloys are working in the department.

 

Graduates of the department are employed in non-ferrous metallurgy Ukraine companies - JSC "Ukrsplav, JSC Volnogorsky Mining and Metallurgical Combine," SCV "Ukrtsvetmet, JSC Dneprotyazhmash, JSC Pobuzhsky Ferronickel Plant", JSC "Mykolayiv Alumina Plant, etc .

 

The best graduates of the department are to scientific work in the Iron and Steel Institute of NAS, Institute of titanium and graduate school, finishing that remain working in the department and PLNMP.

 

The department has scientific and educational links with related departments of the Zaporozhye State Engineering Academy and the Donetsk Polytechnic University, as well as research and design institutes: National pipe institute (Dnepropetrovsk), HMI NASU (Dnepropetrovsk), Institute of titanium (Zaporozhye), Krakow mining and metallurgy academy (AGH), Ukrgipromez (Dnepropetrovsk), OSC "Artemovsky plant processing non-ferrous metals ( Artemovsk), etc.

 

Now the department are having three professors Dr. Sci. Tech., a professor Ph.D., and three docents Ph.D. Of them are one of "Honored Worker of Education in Ukraine and three State prize laureate in science and technology.

 

Non-ferrous metallurgy industry is a relatively young industry in Ukraine and after overcoming a national crisis, it will begin to grow rapidly, especially on the basis of the known deposits of titanium, zirconium, nickel and other nonferrous metals, including precious.
