Bachelor in Translation


The curriculum covers the following:

-The well-known theories and concepts which regard the world as a whole in the sphere of humanities, social and economic sciences;

- Contemporary scientific methods of philological research;

- Well-known concepts of the language as a social phenomenon, its links with thinking, the culture, and the social development of the nation; principal connections between the language and the environment, the main units of the language and speech;

- Functional properties of the language and the specific character of its country;

- The main categories and the forms of translation and interpretation;

- Professional activities of a translator and an interpreter;

- Formal business letter writing and their handling;

- Speaking skills and habits during the process of the foreign language studying;

-Psychological characteristics of the main forms of linguistic activities: speaking, listening, reading and writing of various styles.


Utilizing the knowledge obtained by means of a professional training, a Bachelor in Translation is educated to develop his/her own skills, such as: 

- Expressing oneself comprehensively both orally and in the written form; 

- Operation of labour forces and facilities with the scientifically based techniques, computer software and hardware; 

- Necessary skills for self-studying for new information and development of abilities for critical estimation of the earned experience by means of the latest achievements of linguistics and social practice;

- Professional skills to understand the modern aspects in the field of translation; 

- Application of four principal linguistic activities (reading, writing, listening, speaking,) and knowledge of phonetics, grammar, lexicology, spelling rules, and punctuation;

-Translation and interpretation, writing annotations and abstracts both in the foreign and native languages; 

- Interlingu al equivalents for the professional work; 

- Comparative linguistics for translation and interpretation; 

- Reference literature, variety of dictionaries, and electronic sources for professional activities; 

- Creative attitude to the process of translation and interpretation;

The Bachelor's Degree in Translation allows access to training for Master's Degree in Translation.
